FIT IS EVERYTHING
COSMAS SIZING GUIDELINES
Based on historical information, our Cosmas fire boots (both the Vulcan and Titan) are sized a little bit smaller than other brands of fire boots.
Here is the procedure to assist in attaining a proper fit:
1) Obtain the current size and width . We recommend using a Brannock device, found in most shoe stores..
2) Based on this information add a half size to what you measure.
This is the size that we suggest you start with.
Cosmas does make the best fitting boots on the market. But in order for the end-user to benefit from this feature, they have to be properly sized with the best fitting pair of boots possible. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula to making this happen. If at all possible please try on the boots within a local shop to ensure the best fit .
Our goal is to provide you with the best fitting, most comfortable, safest boot possible.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS Hand wash protective footwear in a utility sink with a shoe brush or another soft brush such as a soft-bristle toothbrush. Soak shoe brush with water to remove dirt and other soils. Always wear protective gloves while cleaning protective footwear. Handle the waste water from the utility sink according to federal, state, and local law. Do not use chlorine bleach, water temperatures greater than 110°F, heavy abrasion and/or scrubbing, or cleaning solutions with a pH greater than 10.5.
DRYING INSTRUCTIONS Remove inner sole, and air dry protective footwear. Use drying racks for hanging protective footwear to provide maximum air exposure and reduce drying time. Do not dry protective footwear in direct sunlight or machine dry. Do not dry wet protective footwear in front of open windows, hot ovens, or radiators, as such accelerated drying methods can affect the fit of the protective footwear and prematurely age the leather. Be sure not to wear your protective footwear if it is not thoroughly clean and dry.
INSPECTION After each cleaning, inspect your protective footwear for heat damage, leather damage, thread or seam damage, discoloration, cracks, tears, and wear. If you discover damage to your protective footwear, contact your supervisor to determine the proper next steps.
MAINTENANCE Other than regular cleaning and proper drying as described above, your protective footwear require no further treatment. Such treatments may jeopardize the protective qualities of your protective footwear.
